Reviving traditional foods in rural Lebanese schools to boost health

The Biodiversity and Community Health (BaCH) Initiative’s partner Bioversity International a global-research-for-development organisation works towards healthy sustainable diets through conservation of agricultural biodiversity. Bioversity International’s vision is to contribute to improved nutrition, resilience, productivity and climate change adaptation. Jointly with other key partners, Bioversity International is implementing the Biodiversity for Food and Nutrition Project – officially the “Mainstreaming Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Use for Improved Human Nutrition and Well-being” project. The project also highlights success stories around the globe in the biodiversity for food and nutrition nexus. Based on its partners support the Biodiversity and Community Health (BaCH) Initiative advocates for linking both biodiversity and health as key development priorities as well as relevant issues such as revitalising traditional health practices and and local food traditions. Throughout its work the Initiative highlights the substantial role of biodiversity and ecosystems for a sustainable development at large.
